Dhamaal 4 attempts to revive the long-running comedy franchise with Ajay Devgn heading an ensemble cast in a treasure-hunting adventure. Although the film brings together several familiar comic performers, repetitive storytelling, dated humor, and excessive CGI prevent it from matching the charm of the original 2007 hit.

A Fourth Installment That Struggles to Recapture the Franchise’s Magic

Built around a satire of human greed, the Dhamaal series returns with its fourth chapter under the direction of Indra Kumar. However, instead of expanding the franchise with fresh ideas, the film appears to rely on the goodwill earned by the original 2007 comedy while pursuing another box-office success.

Ajay Devgn Heads an Ensemble Treasure Hunt

Ajay Devgn, who also produces the film, plays Guddu, bringing his signature deadpan style to the chaotic adventure. Teaming up with Johnny, portrayed by Sanjay Mishra, Guddu sets off in search of a mythical treasure.

As the journey unfolds, they are joined by Adi (Arshad Warsi), the dim-witted Manav (Javed Jaaferi), the greedy Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh), and the energetic Paro (Anjali Deshmukh). Ravi Kishan also joins the cast as the clumsy pirate Adhoora, who pursues the treasure with his own unusual plans.

Strong Comic Talent, Weak Material

Experienced Performers Left With Little to Work With

Despite featuring actors known for their comic timing, the screenplay gives them limited opportunities to showcase their strengths. Written by Paritosh Painter, the script relies on familiar situations and repetitive jokes instead of building a well-connected narrative.

Rather than developing meaningful comic situations, the story unfolds through disconnected sketches where the cast is often left reacting to unfinished CGI effects and recycled slapstick humor.

CGI and Visual Effects Hurt the Experience

The film frequently uses computer-generated animals, including crocodiles, tigers, and octopuses, for comic sequences. These visual effects create exaggerated situations that often feel artificial.

Several scenes also place characters on impossible cliffside locations, making the action appear disconnected from reality. As these moments continue, the visual spectacle replaces natural storytelling and weakens the film’s overall flow.

Comedy Delivers Only Occasional Success

The franchise continues its familiar style of exaggerated comedy, including body-shaming jokes, but the humor rarely comes together through effective timing or structure.

One of the few sequences that stands out features Guddu visiting his girlfriend Alina (Esha Gupta) in an effort to reconnect with his children, only to be greeted by ghosts. Another brighter moment comes through the interactions between Riteish Deshmukh and Anjali Deshmukh, whose exchanges about body size generate some low-brow laughs.

Sanjay Mishra and Javed Jaaferi consistently work to keep the slapstick energy alive, while Ravi Kishan fully commits to his role in an effort to maintain the film’s momentum.

Conclusion

Dhamaal 4 reunites a talented comic ensemble led by Ajay Devgn, but repetitive writing, uneven humor, and overreliance on CGI prevent the film from delivering the entertaining experience fans may expect. While younger viewers and audiences seeking light, mindless comedy may enjoy certain moments, the sequel largely struggles to recreate the appeal that made the franchise popular.
