The Union Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, launched the Bharat Taxi app today as a new government-backed taxi service. Once the app was out, I used it myself to see how it works for real people. From that hands-on use, it was clear that the experience was disappointing. The app is live, but it’s not even close to being usable yet.
A few basic features for booking a taxi are either missing or don’t work, and the whole process feels unfinished from the start.

What the Bharat Taxi App Experience After It Came Out

The worst thing about the Bharat Taxi app is that you can’t book a quick cab. You can’t ask for a ride right away, which is a basic function of any taxi service. This alone keeps most people from using the app.

There are no other choices, like renting something or going out of town, but nothing is available. The app shows these groups, but you can’t book a taxi under them. It says that travel to and from the airport is a service, but that doesn’t work either. The app doesn’t let you choose most places in Delhi as meeting or drop-off spots, which means you can’t make airport reservations.

Very few booking choices are available

The app only lets you rent cars by the hour with a four-hour minimum booking, for travel within the state, or to get to and from the airport. There is no way to get rides in the city. There is no way to use the app for small trips, daily commutes, or impromptu travel.
The app shows a lot of services on the screen, but none of them work right. It’s clear that the service isn’t ready for normal users because every effort to book something fails.

Problems with the Bharat Taxi app and user feedback

At the beginning of the user trip, problems set in. There are problems with even the login process. If someone types in the wrong number while entering the OTP, pressing “backspace” does not properly delete the previous number. This makes users have to start the login process all over again, which is annoying for such a simple step.

The problems that users have reported on the Play Store are the same. The Bharat Taxi app only has a 2.8 grade right now. A lot of users have said bad things about the app’s interface, its broken features, and their general bad experience. A lot of reviews say that the app isn’t full and is frustrating.

At this point, Bharat Taxi may have been publicly released, but it can’t be used in the real world. After a lot of work, the app should be able to work as a trusted taxi service.
