Sunetra Pawar has been chosen as the National President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This is a big political event in Maharashtra. The decision was made at a meeting of the party’s national executive committee on February 26, almost a month after the death of top leader Ajit Pawar.
After a period of doubt following Ajit Pawar’s death, the statement clarifies the party’s leadership structure. Senior leaders said the entire organization made the move to ensure continuity and security.
Approval by Everyone at the National Executive Meeting
The decision to hire Sunetra Pawar was made at a national executive meeting attended by important party leaders and officeholders. During the session, her name was brought up, and everyone there agreed with it.
Party insiders say no one opposed her running, and the bill passed by a vote of all members. It was also seen as a step toward group unity.
The meeting was mostly about selecting new leaders and strengthening the party for the next few months. By making this choice, the NCP has officially filled the top level position.
Parth Pawar will run for Rajya Sabha as the NCP’s candidate
At today’s NCP meeting, another choice was made. Parth Pawar, who is the son of Ajit Pawar, will run for Rajya Sabha as the NCP Ajit faction’s candidate. The news came from NCP Working President Praful Patel.
Sunetra Pawar is going to run for the Baramati Assembly by-election
The NCP had already chosen Sunetra Pawar as its candidate for the Baramati Assembly by-election, which was run by Ajit Pawar, the party’s leader. As per reports, the choice was made at a major party meeting on Tuesday.
An unexpected plane crash on 28 January killed her husband, Ajit Pawar, who was the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. His place in the Baramati assembly became empty.
This time, Ajit Pawar beat his nephew Yugendra Pawar, who was running for the Baramati seat as an NCP (SP) candidate, by 1,00,899 votes. He got 1,81,132 votes, while Yugendra got 80,233.
Sunetra Pawar’s First Speech as Leader of the Party
After being chosen as National President, Sunetra Pawar spoke to party members and thanked them for trusting her. She said she would work to strengthen the organization and ensure everyone worked together.
She stressed the importance of sticking to policies that support growth and following the organization’s rules. Leaders who attended the meeting say she told party members that choices would be made as a group to support the party’s growth.
Her main points focused on security, cooperation, and carrying forward the goal set by the former leadership. Party sources said that her message was meant to reassure members and keep the mood high across the state.
What this means for politics in Maharashtra
It’s an important time for Maharashtra politics, with a new head. The NCP remains a major political force in the state, and both coalition partners and rival groups closely monitor any changes within the party.
Now that Sunetra Pawar is in charge of the party at the national level, everyone will be watching to see how the NCP reacts to future political events. Political experts say that her hiring sends a message of togetherness within the party, especially since everyone agreed on the choice. The party should focus on building a stronger base of support at the local and regional levels.
The Problems and the Way Ahead
The consensus result has clarified things, but there are still problems to solve. The party will have to keep its organization together and meet the needs of its workers and followers. The new leaders will have to focus on managing partnerships, reaching out to the public more, and preparing for future elections.
