She says, “What really stands out is how many traditional crafts are mixed into one look.” Each of these has its own style that comes from its area, and these are all linked here by intricate flower patterns.
Even though the style is complicated, it doesn’t make things too hard to see. “It doesn’t feel too much; instead, it feels like a story of skill coming together in one piece,” she says.
A modern figure meets old fashioned art
The work was highly influenced by tradition, but the shape was very modern. The corset style bodice and bodycon, ankle length skirt gave the outfit a current look.
Gupta draws attention to this difference. “The shape is very modern.” That’s what makes the look interesting: the mix of traditional fabrics and a rigid, modern shape. It feels modern and not stuck in the past.
The deep burgundy, bottle green, and gold colour scheme made the outfit even more luxurious, with ideas from the edges of traditional wedding sarees.

By thinking about a bandage style dress through an Indian view, the designer was able to honour the human form while still keeping cultural meaning. It showed how old skills can change over time without losing their uniqueness.
On Instagram, the official label Manish Malhotra World said the same thing, calling the piece a meeting point of styles. It’s “a study in how boundaries can also connect.”
