Mohammad Saifuddin’s first game was very important after Mahedi’s 3 for 25 held Ireland to 170. When Litton hit 57, Parvez 43 and Delany 228, Ireland was only 170 for 6. They lost by four runs and Bangladesh scored 174 for 6.

Emon lead chase

Literon Das’ 16th T20I 50 helped Bangladesh beat Ireland by 4 wickets in Chattogram. With this win, the hosts tied the three-game series at 1-1 and went on to win their next four games.

Litton hit 57 runs off of 37 balls, including three sixes and the same number of fours. But when he was out and three more wickets fell quickly after, Bangladesh was in a tough spot in the last few overs of their 171-run chase.

There were still 14 balls left for Bangladesh to score 22 runs and win when they lost their fifth wicket in the 19th over. Josh Little missed the chance at short fine leg when Mohammad Saifuddin, the new starter, hit a long-range first ball. In the 19th over, Bangladesh was down six runs and needed 14 more runs in ten balls. Saifuddin hit an over-the-top six and then a four, both off of Mark Adair. In the end, he hit two fours and a six for a very important 17* off of seven balls.

In the last over, three runs were needed to win, and Mahedi Hasan scored the last four runs with a thudding drive through extra cover.

Ireland had earlier made 170 for 6 in 20 overs, but their fast start suggested they could score more than 200. Bangladesh’s answer was good. Parvez Hossain Emon and Litton got them off to a good start.

Parvez cracks the whip

In the first over, Parvez hit Matthew Humphreys, Ireland’s star player in the first T20I, for two fours. In the second over, he hit Adair. When Parvez’s starting partner Tanzid Hasan was run out because of a misunderstanding, Barry McCarthy lost the ball while going to his left. McCarthy was bowling the third over.

Parvez, on the other hand, didn’t stop hitting even though Litton, his captain, helped him. In the sixth over, Litton and Parvez hit Little for a six and two fours, giving Bangladesh 66 runs in the powerplay. Parvez hit Gareth Delany for his second six, but he was out in the next over for 43 by the leg spinner. During his 28-ball stay, Parvez hit five fours and two sixes.

Little had no luck

Little didn’t get out in the first T20I, and it was a bad break when his captain, Paul Stirling, dropped Saif Hassan in the 11th over. The chance at cover was tough, but Stirling is known for getting these kinds of saves.

When Delany took a tough chance at the deep-midwicket edge, Little had even more bad luck. With one hand, he blocked Litton’s pull, and on the second try, he got under the ball. But replays showed that Delany’s towel, which was hidden under his pants, had hit the boundary rope. So, it was decided to be a six.

Ireland got off to a good start in their ICC World Cup Qualifier match against the UAE in Bulawayo on June 27, 2023.

Litton and Saif made sure that Bangladesh’s run rate was right on track. In the 12th over, Litton hit Delany over the fence for four runs, and then Saif hit him hard for six. To get to fifty, Litton then hit a beautiful six by going inside out over the covers. He was caught lbw for 57, though, and Adair got rid of him.

After three balls, Saif let Delany have a catch at long-on, who bowled the ball 24 yards away. Then, Towhid Hridoy was run out for the sixth time in his career because he couldn’t get to the striker’s end with his bat still in the air after crossing the line. Ireland knew they were still in the game when Nurul Hasan was out in the 19th over.

Ireland’s first games go big

When Ireland chose to bat first, they got off to a great start. Tim Tector did it again, adding to his 32 from the last game. Three fours were hit at Mahedi in the first over, and then two fours and a six were hit at Nasum Ahmed in the second over.

Then Stirling went after Saifuddin and hit him three times in the third over, once for six and twice for four. Saif made a good catch in the deep in the fifth over to get rid of Stirling, who had hit 29 off of 14 balls. Tector, on the other hand, kept hitting his pulls cleanly, and one of them went deep into the second tier. Ireland’s best score in the powerplay against Bangladesh was 75 for 1.

In the ninth over, Mahedi got rid of the Tector boys, Tim and Harry. Tim was out on the first ball because he swung at it and it went under the bat. Along with his four fours, Tim hit two sixes and made 38 off of 25 balls. James was then bowled for 11 runs when Mahedi got a ball to skid below his bat. Mahedi also got rid of Ben Calitz for 7 runs, and Litton also stumped him. Dublin was 88 for 1 in the ninth over, but by the eleventh, they were 103 for 4.

Tucker helps Ireland get better

With 56 runs off the fifth wicket, Lorcan Tucker and George Dockrell got Ireland back on track. Tucker hit Nasum with a slog-swept four through mid-on. In the 16th and 17th overs, he hit Tanzim and Saifuddin for three fours each.

While Delany is known for hitting big hits, he only hit one six in the last over. Dockrell, on the other hand, hit just one four in his 21-ball stay for 18 runs. After making 41 runs off of 32 balls and four fours, Tucker was run out on the last ball.
