The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled the CTET 2026 Paper 2 for two examination centres in Vaishali district, Bihar due to circumstances making it impossible for the test to be conducted on 7th February 2026.

The CBSE posted an update on their social media account X (formerly Twitter) regarding this situation. They have also apologised for any inconvenience caused to all registered candidates that would have been at these venues.

The two affected examination centres in Hajipur were:

  • St. John’s Academy, Basmati Nagar, Vaishali, Centre No. 125016
  • Lakshya International Academy, Vaishali, Centre No. 125014

CBSE have not disclosed any specific details regarding what caused the disruption and have only indicated it was due to “circumstances beyond control”.

However, reports have suggested there were substantial delays associated with the delivery of question papers which may have created an atmosphere of chaos and unrest amongst candidates at these venues.

National Conduct of CTET 2026

The CTET Paper 2 exam was successfully conducted on the date scheduled at 1,801 of the 1,803 test locations in India, even though it had to be cancelled at 2 locations in Bihar.

CTET is held by CBSE two times each year and provides a national level teacher eligibility test for teachers who wish to teach in all centrally located, recognised schools (e.g. KVS, NVS, APS).  Paper 2 is taken by individuals looking to work as a teacher for grades 6-8. It includes multiple-choice questions on education theory, languages, math, science and other primary education related topics.

For candidates that were registered at the two locations that had to be cancelled, the board will be holding Re-Examination(s).  The re-examinations will occur within 15 days of the existing testing date; and each candidate’s individual re-examination date and other important details will be communicated directly to them.

Therefore, it is strongly encouraged that all affected candidates frequently review their e-mail for messages from CTET, as well as the CTET website (ctet.nic.in) for updated re-examination schedules.

The board wants to give every candidate who has met the requirements a reasonable opportunity to accomplish their qualifying examination without having to fill out another application for the next exam or being disadvantaged due to issues beyond their control.

Consequences for the Results and Future Process

Even though only a small percentage of total examinees were affected by these cancellations, it is possible that results for Paper 2 at these centres may be delayed very slightly compared to when they would normally have been processed. According to official sources, results for the CTET 2026 examination will probably be published sometime during late March or early April 2026, and that the results may also take into account the scheduling of re-examinations for those persons whose examinations were affected by the cancellations.

Conversely, candidates that had their exams administered as scheduled will receive the answer keys and an analysis of answers by shift prior to the final results being released; thus allowing each candidate to evaluate whether or not they performed satisfactorily.

CTET’s Importance in Teacher Recruitment

CTET remains one of the primary eligibility requirements for teaching employment with both the Central Government and many State governments that accept the CTET certificate. If a candidate has passed Paper 2, they will have the ability to apply for teaching positions for educational levels 6 through 8, which is often required by recruiting agencies such as DSSSB (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board).

With significant numbers for the current cycle, (over 25 lakhs), and some disruptions at the two sites (though relatively small), the two sites’ logistical difficulties in administering pen and paper exams throughout the nation demonstrate the complexities of administration.
