The Punjagutta Police Station has opened a case against the well known Telugu folk singer Mangli. The case concerns an alleged investment scam and threats against an accuser.
A case has been made against popular Telugu folk singer Mangli (Satyavathi) and several others. She is in a lot of legal danger. There are allegations of theft, criminal threats, and financial fraud totaling about ₹10 crore in this case.
There are claims of ₹10 crore investment fraud
The lawsuit says nearly 100 people were approached and told they could recover a lot of money from their investments. A lot of money, close to ₹10 crore, is said to have been collected by the suspects.
Investors were told that the money would be used to finance films and do other business-related things, and they were promised big returns in return. But the people who filed the complaints say that neither the promised gains nor the money they put in was refunded. The victims went to the cops after many failed efforts to get their money back.
Extra charges for intimidation
The lawsuit also says that Lawyer Subbarao, who was defending the investors, was threatened and scared when he asked the accused about paying back the money.
There have been financial issues involving famous people in the film business in the past. For example, a ₹20 crore case was made against star Dhanush earlier this year.
Police file an FIR under BNS
According to reports, the police have opened a case under parts 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as other parts that deal with cheating and threats.
Many people are interested in this Mangli court matter because Mangli is a well-known name in Telugu folk music and theatre. People in Telugu-speaking states really like the singer, known for her upbeat folk songs and for the reality shows she has been on.
The investigation is ongoing, and the officials are looking into the claims. As the case goes on, more information is likely to come out.
Threat claims come to light
The lawyer’s claims that he got death threats after trying to get his money back made the case more serious. He said that Mangli, her brother Shiva, and other people had threatened to hurt him and said they would cause an accident.
He also said that he was offered money to drop the report, and when he turned it down, the threats kept coming. After that, he went to the cops and asked for security.
Advocate Subbarao’s lawsuit says the accused took large amounts of money from almost 100 people by offering them high returns on investments in businesses. The lawsuit says that crores of rupees were spent, but even after a few years, neither the earnings nor the original deposits were returned.
The victims got angrier, so they went to the attorney for legal help. When he asked the accused about returning the money, he allegedly started getting threats. In his lawsuit, Subbarao said that Mangli, her brother Shiva, and the film director Venu Udugula called him and gave him very serious warnings, including life threats.
