India batter Suryakumar Yadav has supported Shubman Gill as the first-choice India opening batter in the current white-ball set-up, indicating that the young batter was a thoroughly deserving candidate, based on his form, temperament, and consistency. ‘He earned it’

It has nothing to do with senior or junior. The one who raises his hand and scores points on India will play. He has demonstrated to me that he can do that regularly, he said.

Competition remains intense
These selections of India have been a subject of controversy during the post-World Cup cycle, with Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Gill all having played at one time or another over the last 18 months.
