A shocking chain of events happened late Wednesday night in a high rise apartment building in Bodakdev, Ahmedabad, that ended in the deaths of a young couple. The person who did it was named Yashrajsinh Gohil. He is the nephew of Shaktisinh Gohil, a top Congress member in the Rajya Sabha. The police said that Yashrajsinh killed himself hours after accidentally killing his wife.
The couple lived on Judges Bungalow Road on the fifth floor of a high end apartment building. It was reported to the cops that they came home from a social event and seemed calm and normal when they entered their apartment. Between 10:30 pm and midnight, the event happened in their bedroom and sent shockwaves through the building and the area.
An accidental discharge kills
From what the cops have found so far, it looks like the gun in question was Yashrajsinh’s registered handgun. It is said that the gun went off by mistake while the couple was in their bedroom, hitting 30-year-old Rajeshwari near the base of her head. She fell down right away and lost consciousness.
When Yashrajsinh realized how bad things were, he told his mother, who lived in a different room in the same apartment. He told her to call for help right away. She found Rajeshwari asleep in a pool of blood when she went into the bedroom.
Around 11:42 p.m., emergency services were called, and rescuers came soon after. Rajeshwari was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime because he had been hit so badly.
After his wife died, the man killed himself
According to the police, Yashrajsinh looked very upset after hearing that his wife had died. As soon as the medical staff confirmed that she was dead, he went back to the bedroom and used the same pistol to shoot himself. According to the police, he died right away.
After the deaths, both bodies were taken to Asarwa Civil Hospital to be looked at by doctors. The gun was taken by police as part of their investigation into a case of accidental death. Ballistics and forensics teams were called to look at the area and the weapon.
The police are still looking into whether the first gunshot was really a mistake, as early results suggested.
