Songs that made her work famous
From her start as a child singer in the 1940s to becoming one of the most flexible and productive voices in world music, Bhosle’s career spanned over eight decades. She was born in 1933. In Indian movies, she changed what a backup singer could be by recording over 12,000 songs in many languages and styles, such as cabaret, ghazals, classical, pop, and more.
Bhosle was the younger sister of the late, famous singer Lata Mangeshkar. She sang for leading ladies like Meena Kumari, Madhubala, and Zeenat Aman, as well as for Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, and South stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala. If Mangeshkar stood for purity and poise, Bhosle brought chaos and new ideas into the public. Hindi film music also changed because of her work with musicians like O.P. Nayyar and R.D. Burman.
India lost more than just a voice when she left; it lost a timeless echo that had shaped its music for more than eight decades.

A Well-Known “Rivalry”
Lata Mangeshkar’s younger sister Asha Bhosle was also a leader. She was always thankful to have her “Didi” by her side, but she always wanted to be her own person. Stories about their feud go back a very long time, but neither of them has ever confirmed them. Some people told lies and tried to cause trouble, but blood is thicker than water. During events where both of us were present, some people in our field would avoid me and only talk to her, as if they wanted to show their support. “Afterwards, Didi and I would laugh a lot,” Asha Bhosle said in a talk.
