With the moon signaling the conclusion of Ramadan and the holiday of Eid Al Fitr tingling the air in the UAE, it is with this in mind that Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has bestowed a cause to celebrate in advance on Dubai residents. In a statement which has caused a general sigh of relief to all the motorists and commuters, the city has affirmed that during the first three days of Eid, public parking will be free.

In addition to the parking benefits, the city also is preparing to welcome a festival onslaught by extending the Metro and Tram hours so that the four-day weekend (Thursday, March 19, 2026, to Sunday, March 22, 2026) is as carefree as it is delightful.

The Gift of Free Parking What You Need to Know

The news of free parking is a vacation in itself to any person who has ever had to go round a block in Jumeirah or scout a parking place in Bur Dubai. Since the 1st of Shawwal (Thursday, March 19), drivers will be able to leave their vehicles in parking areas without touching their RTA apps or searching for a kiosk.

The Fine Print

Although the city is generous, one should remember about several boundaries:

  • Period: The parking holiday has an average period of one day beginning on the first day of the Eid until the end of the third day.
  • Excluded Zones: The parking facilities will remain in multi-storey under their normal commercial tariffs. The free parking directive does not cover these.
  • Resumption: Parking charges will go back to normal on fourth day Eid (Sunday, March 22).

Such an initiative is not only a boon in terms of money; it is more of a logistical treat to families that are planning big events or families that are going to the various big malls and parks of the city during the occasion.

Metro and Tram Extensions: Keeping the City Moving

As thousands of residents and tourists will be attracted to fireworks shows and celebrations, the Dubai Metro, the silver-and-blue heartbeat of the city, is raising its stakes. RTA has ensured that both Red and Green lines would run on a more extended schedule to make sure that no one is left with no option after late-night dinner.

Revised Metro Timings

  • Wednesday, March 18- Saturday, March 21: 5:00 am to 1:00 am (next day).
  • Sunday, March 22: 8:00 am to 1:00 am (next day).

Dubai Tram Schedule

The Tram, as gracefully pouring through the Marina and Al Sufouh, will do the same:

  • Wednesday -Saturday 6:00 am to 1:00 am (next day).
  • Sunday: 9:00 am to 1:00 am (next day).

These long working hours are significant to people going to the Dubai Water Canal or the Palm Jumeirah, the two places where the number of visitors usually reaches an enormous number during breaks during the Eid.

Bus and Marine Transport: Overcoming the Changes

Although the majority of the attention is given to the Metro, the Dubai Bus and the Marine transport networks play a significant role in the last-mile journey. This year intercity routes have a few important alterations that need to be remembered by travelers.

Intercity Bus Alerts

When you are planning to commute between Dubai and Abu Dhabi then note:

  • Route E100: The services to and fro Al Ghubaiba Bus Station will be suspended on the afternoons of Wednesday, March 18, and Sunday, March 22.
  • Alternative: It is recommended that the commuters use Route E101, which will still serve the route between Ibn Battuta Bus Station and Abu Dhabi.
  • Route E102: This route is going to be used in the summer time only in the Al Jafiliya Bus Station to Musaffah.

Marine Transport

The marine transport will be running on special schedules, whether it is the old fashioned Abras in the Creek or the up-to-date Dubai Ferry. The RTA highly recommends the use of S’hail app to get real-time information because the timing of the boats may vary depending on the weather and the number of passengers during the holiday.

Safety When Partying in the City of Gold

It is during this period of Eid al Fitr that there is a gorgeous stretch of weather in Dubai and outdoor activities are highly desirable. Early salary payment to government employees was already being ordered by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince on March 17, thus the souks and malls of the city are already humming with people.
