By the age of 30, Sahil Bloom, an Indian-born writer, investor, and former college athlete, had all he wanted, but he learned that money doesn’t buy happiness. Before I turned 30, I had done everything that I thought made a person successful.
According to Fortune, in his book The 5 Types of Wealth- A Transformative Guide to Design Your Dream Life, he wrote, I had the high-paying job, the title, the house, the car, it was all there.

Bloom, on the other hand, soon knew that having a lot of money didn’t make him happy. Deep down, I was very unhappy. I started to feel like there was something not right with me… I kept thinking, “Is this it?” Bloom wrote in his book that he had made the mistake of putting one thing above all else.
What made Bloom see true wealth differently?
Fortune reported that Bloom said his moment of truth happened when he talked to a friend, who helped him see how little time he really had left with his parents. The truth hit him hard: if he kept living the way he was, he would only see them a few more times in his life.
The author told Fortune magazine earlier this year, “I realized then that I didn’t have a full definition of success or of what it meant to build a wealthy life.” He said, “The pursuit of money, status, and fancy things, which is what we all have in common, was a part of building a wealthy life, but it wasn’t the complete picture.”
Creating a rich life
Then, within weeks, he changed completely. He quit his job, sold his California home, and moved across the country to be with his family. He said that this big choice taught him he could change how he thought about living a rich life.
Bloom continued, “That one thing you did was really what started it all, because it showed you that you really do have more control over your time than you think.” “Having a rich life isn’t just about getting money and possessions. It’s high time. We’ve never had a way to measure these other parts of our lives, he said.
Bloom’s approach has been very popular and praised by Tim Cook, Mel Robbins, and Bill Ackman. His book asks readers to think about what kind of wealth they should focus on based on where they are in their lives. Bloom hopes that this model will change the way people think about success in today’s world.
