Lara Dutta, an actress in Bollywood, has recently spoken about how much she has been suffering from fear and anxiety during her two days in Dubai following the increasingly dangerous circumstances which exist throughout the Middle East due to military operations breaking out throughout the world and most recently between Iran and Israel and their respective Allies. As stated in a video message sent out to her fans, these past few days have been very stressful for her, as she has heard a lot of loud sounds as well as fighter jets.
Lara’s comments are being made at a time when the tensions have risen to a new level in West Asia because of the increased fighting and subsequent deaths caused by Iran and Israel and their Allies. Many people living and travelling through the Gulf nations have found it difficult to ascertain whether they will continue to be safe, and as a result, many people do not know whether or not they will be travelling again in the future.
“I’ve heard ‘lots of loud booms and lots of fighter jets“…..As a result of having said that, Lara told her fans in the video that she has heard several explosions and that this has caused her windows and doors in her villa to shake at times as a result of the loud explosions that occurred in their vicinity.
Lara recalls in the video one particular instance when she was filming a commercial at a studio in Dubai when suddenly, out of nowhere, explosions occurred, and when she and her crew ran outside to see where the explosions were coming from, they were able to see that missiles were being shot down from the air. Lara stated that the overwhelming noise and the unforeseeable sights have created an environment of fear and anxiety for those in attendance.
In addition, Lara expressed that she found the incident to be unnerving. The ongoing bombardment coupled with the military airplanes flying overhead contributed to a few days of significant emotional exhaustion.
Stuck with Child
What is also concerning for Lara is the fact that she is away from her usual support system during this crisis. At present, Lara is in Dubai with her child while her husband, former professional tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi, is working and not at home during this escalation of violence.
Lara has expressed that it has been especially hard for families with children due to the anxiety that both children and parents are feeling because of the uncertainty of the conflict. Because of this anxiety, Lara is now attempting to get back to Mumbai rapidly.
Lara added that while adults may grasp the complexities of international conflict, children have difficulty understanding how to deal with the fear and unpredictability created by international conflict.

Praise for UAE authorities
Lara was thankful to the government of the UAE for their “outstanding efforts” in ensuring the safety and security of the people during this crisis, even with her anxious feelings about the constant change.
Lara said that regardless of nationality, the people in Dubai feel safe and secure. She commended local officials for their commitment to maintaining peace and order throughout the region, despite ongoing problems with the neighbouring countries.
Lara also recognised the many hundreds of everyday workers – delivery people, maintenance workers, etc. who continue to take care of the needs of the city and its residents, even under stressful conditions, as “everyday heroes”.

A wider crisis affects civilians
The conflict in the Middle East region has produced fear and uncertainty for thousands of civilians and expatriate populations throughout the region, as missile attacks and military responses contribute to confusion among many people living in or visiting the region. Many people have become stranded in Gulf states due to the escalation of hostilities.
The message from Lara’s video expresses the fears and anxieties of many who are living and/or travelling to the Middle East during the current crisis. Although conditions in Dubai are relatively calm compared to other impacted areas, the ongoing military conflict has created a tense and stressful environment for many of the people in the region and for many of the people travelling to the region.

Hope for peace
Lara remarked no civilian should live in terror due to war, and stated her hope that we move toward peace through better judgment and diplomacy before any further escalation of conflict.
While waiting for a chance to get back home to India, the actress continues to update her audience in regards that she and her child are safe for the moment. Lara’s honest depiction of what global conflicts mean in terms of the effects on normal people — even those who are far away from the place where a war is occurring — is striking.
