The Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has officially named Tejashwi Yadav as its leader in the Assembly. The party is still dealing with the fallout from its bad showing in the recent state assembly polls. Top leaders from the RJD, Congress, and Left parties were at a meeting of all alliance MLAs at Tejashwi’s house where the decision was made. People who were involved in the talks say that no one spoke against Tejashwi’s name, and the choice was made unanimously within minutes.

As of the findings being announced, this was the alliance’s first big political meeting. This time, the Mahagathbandhan only won 35 seats, which is a big drop from what it got before. Leaders made it clear, though, that the alliance is still together and plans to be a strong resistance in the House. Many people said that Tejashwi was the “obvious” and “natural” choice because he had been Leader of the Opposition before and was very important to the alliance’s campaign.

The five-day assembly session is now being planned

The Bihar Assembly sitting that starts on December 1 is likely to be very political. The event where newly elected MLAs take the oath of office will happen on the first day. The election for Speaker is set for December 2. Now that Tejashwi is officially the boss of the union, he will be in charge of planning the Mahagathbandhan’s overall strategy.

Alliance sources say the main goal will be to hold the government responsible for problems like poor governance, high unemployment, rising prices, and others that came up during the election campaign. Senior lawmakers also said that the union would try to bring attention to the fact that the ruling party doesn’t always keep the promises it makes. Even though they were overpowered, they were sure that the resistance could be heard by focussing on issues that affect people and acting with order and unity.

Tejashwi was supposed to bring back the opposition’s voice

A return of Tejashwi Yadav to the job is seen as an attempt to boost the opposition’s morale after the poor election results. The meeting was a chance for the RJD to get back on track and convince followers that the party is still strong, even though they had a loss. Tejashwi told the MLAs that the union had to act responsibly and maturely, and that they should keep putting public issues first in the Assembly.

Leaders of both the Congress and Left parties said the same thing: Tejashwi’s experience makes him the best person to lead the opposing ranks. They also said that the alliance would work to make sure that the government is questioned during important talks. At the meeting, people also talked about how to improve group coordination and keep a united front in the coming months.

A Political Message Before the Start of a New Legislative Term

The fact that Tejashwi was appointed at this time makes it clear that the Mahagathbandhan wants to start the new parliamentary term with unity and clarity. A lot of people who follow politics think that the choice was necessary to keep things from getting too confusing within the union and to show power at a time when it is trying to get back on track.

The opposition still has a lot of power, even though the party in power has a large majority. They shape talks and keep an eye on what the government does. The Mahagathbandhan wants to present itself as a positive yet strong group, with Tejashwi at the helm. The next sitting of the Assembly should show how the newly formed opposition stands and how well Tejashwi can lead the group through the phase of mending.
