Uttar Pradesh is seeing a lot more tourists as the Festival of Colours gets closer. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has added 148 more bus trips every day in the Prayagraj area to handle the expected high number of people travelling during Holi. The special deal will stay in place from February 28 to March 9, which is the busiest travel time for the holidays.
Officials said the move is meant to make travel easier for people who are going to enjoy the holiday with their families. Since offices and schools are closed for the holiday, a lot of people are going to go home or to nearby cities, which will put a lot of stress on normal bus services.
More services on routes with a lot of demand
The transport company carefully chose key lines by looking at how people have travelled in the past and how they are buying tickets now. With these new services, Prayagraj will be able to connect to major towns in the state and beyond.
Between Prayagraj and Lucknow, 34 extra buses will run every day, which is the most of any route. Twenty more services have been added to the road between Prayagraj and Ayodhya.
People going to educational and business hubs will also gain. There will be 24 more trips every day between Prayagraj and Kanpur, and there will be 24 more trips every day between Prayagraj and Varanasi.
26 more buses will run every day on the Prayagraj–Jaunpur–Gorakhpur line to connect eastern Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, 10 more trips have been planned for the Prayagraj–Mirzapur and Prayagraj–Banda sectors.
There will be seven more cars every day between Prayagraj and Delhi, which will also help long-distance tourists going to the national capital.
Special arrangement for ten days
Officials say that the extra trips are part of a special operating plan for the next ten days. The goal is to keep things from getting too crowded, cut down on wait times, and make sure people can move easily during one of the busiest times of the year.
Transport officials think that the crowds will start to build up a few days before Holi and keep going for a few days after as people go back to work. UPSRTC hopes that by splitting the extra trips among several lines, passenger traffic will be spread out fairly and bus stops will not become chaotic at the last minute.
The company has told station managers and regional officials to keep a close eye on the flow of passengers and make changes as needed. The focus is on being on time and avoiding delays that aren’t necessary.
Staff Members Get a Special Bonus Plan
The state government has created a “Holi Special Incentive Scheme” for drivers, guides, and workshop staff to help with the extra work.
Drivers and guides who work 300 miles in a day during the holiday season will get an extra ₹3,600 under this plan. A reward of ₹4,500 will be given to people who work during the ten-day special drive. Workers in the workshop are also part of the plan. People who work for nine days will get ₹1,800, and people who work for ten days will get ₹2,100.
It doesn’t leave out contract or hired drivers. They will get an extra 55 paise per kilometre for going farther than the planned route. Officials think that these benefits will encourage workers to keep up the high level of service even though they have a lot of work to do.

Attention to passenger safety and comfort
UPSRTC has made it clear that passenger safety and comfort are still their top concerns, even though thousands of people are expected to journey every day. The buses that will be used for the extra trips will be checked, and operating teams have been told to make sure that everything runs smoothly at the bus stations.
The government is sure that the extra 148 trains every day will make journey much easier and provide quicker choices. The project shows that the transport company is taking the initiative to handle holiday traffic spikes effectively.
As Holi approaches, the increased bus network will help people in the Prayagraj area get where they need to go safely and on time.
