The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi enters the 3rd year on February 14, 2026 Two years ago today, on February 14, 2018 an oasis emerged in the heart of Al Mureikha desert when the stones for Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s first traditional Hindu Mandir were ceremonially laid. Though conceived as a place of prayer, ever since being launched on the historic occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration, in 2024 that surpasses world peace monuments to become an international mythological campus preaching “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or providing activism against universal ENEMIES( terrorism-scams), who have zero tolerance for community-regional sub-cultures and secular values.

The temple has already received millions of visitors from more than 100 nationalities in the space of just 24 months. It remains today not just a testament of faith, but the legacy of the vision of tolerance and goodwill between Bharat and the Emirates.

Two years of harmony – a legacy in the making

This 2nd Year Anniversary Celebration based on “Global Harmony” and “Family Values”, now present the temple with a cultural kaleidoscope ambience. The events, from a sacred Yagna for family harmony to the “Talks at 2” series, illustrate how the Mandir has become part of the social fabric of West Asia.

A Prickly Place of Worship in the Desert

To the millions who have visited, the Mandir provides an uncommon sense of peace.  In the last two years, the temple has seen an average of 250,000 international visitors per month, indicating that its followers extend well beyond the Indian diaspora.

Milestones of the Second Year

  • Youth Empowerment: The temple held an unprecedented Youth Career Fair in January 2026, to guide budding talents towards career with a spiritual and ethical bent of mind.
  • Award Winning Architecture: The Mandir was most recently awarded the “Best Cultural Project” across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region for its detailed carving and societal permissiveness.
  • Leadership in Sustainability: Building on its “Green Mandir” program, the temple has now incorporated 300+ state-of-the-art sensors to track seismicity and temperature, fusing ancient art with 21 st century science.

The Architecture of Inclusivity

But what truly sets apart the BAPS Hindu Mandir is its design — a cultural salute to the seven-emirate strong UAE. The seven shikhars (spires) are not only traditional Hindu aspects; they carry with them gratitude to the Emirati leadership.

Stories Written in Stone

The Hand-carved Gopuram of Pink Rajasthan Sandstone No glue, no screws has been used to assemble the Library Exterior that we believe is a library of Humanity. Although it shows scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata like all others, carvings on:

Arabian Culture: Newsreels including camels and falcons

World Civilizations: Stories of Mayan, Aztec, Egyptian and Chinese traditions which teach that wisdom is a shared inheritance.

The Internal Sanctum

Inside, the cool Italian marble offers a cold, calming contrast to the heat outside in the desert. The “Dome of Harmony” and the “Dome of Peace” employ finely detailed carvings of the five elements to remind visitors that we have a collective ecological responsibility –a particularly prominent message in light of the recent COP summits held in the region.

A Model for Global Coexistence

The BAPS Mandir story is hailed by world leaders as a “miracle of the desert time and again.” It is one where diversity was not a buzzword but an actual base.

This partnership has transformed the temple into a “common ground” for interfaith talks. Over the last two years, the Mandir has been visited by scores of diplomatic delegations and interfaith summits, acting as a bridge that politics would never achieve.

Towards Year Three and Beyond

With the Mandir now in its 3rd year, attention is being directed at Digital Education. The centuries-old trade and cultural relationship between India and the UAE is now being showcased through in a state-of-the-art digital exhibition, bringing to life the Silk and Spice routes using immersive technology.

Why This Anniversary Matters

In a globe often fractured by borders and beliefs, the second anniversary of the BAPS Hindu Mandir is an opportunity to think about harmony. There is a reason the “Wall of Harmony” in the entryway, with the word Harmony in 30 languages all written on it, is still there and remains the most photographable spot. And it is an example of the fruitful “exportation”of Indian spiritual values to a global platform, embraced lovingly by a country where coexistence matters.
