The Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh (MCC) has officially increased its “MC One Pass” online parking system to the urban commuters, leaving behind the monthly subscriptions to provide even cheaper long terms parking. The new roll out in the form of quarterly, half-yearly and annual pass eliminates the daily cash-on-slip hassle and will save regular parkers up to 1800 every year.
The expansion, introduced by Mayor Saurabh Joshi on March 11, 2026, follows the massive popularity of the monthly digital pass, which had more than 2,000 subscribers in the first several weeks. This move to an integrated digital ecosystem is being celebrated as the biggest change in the management that the city handles almost 90 paid parking lots in Chandigarh in years.
Daily Hassle to Digital Armistice: The New Pass Tiers
The main idea of expansion is divided into one simple rule: the more time you invest, the more money you will save. The relief is significant to thousands of professionals, shopkeepers, and students who park in the Sectors 17, 22, 35, or in the areas of the high-traffic area of the Elante Mall.
The Math of Convenience
The changing price model is a clear indication that it aims to reward digital adoption. With the new rules, the four-wheeler enters an annual pass of 4200. To put that in perspective:
- Current Annual Monthly Expense: 500 (₹6,000 annually)
- Total Saving: 1800 (30 percent off, huge discount)
On two-wheelers, the annual pass will cost 2,100 INR, which will save 900 INR over a year as compared to a dozen monthly tickets. The MC has also added middle ground options to the ones who would have more flexibility:
- Six-month membership: 2200 (4-wheelers) 1100 (2-wheelers)
- Quarterly Pass: 1200 (4-wheelers) 600 (2-wheelers)
The Mayor pointed out that this is not an initiative of filling the coffers of the corporation. The MC One Parking Pass system is mostly aimed at bettering the parking control as well as offering enhanced public services. It is all about turning the city smarter and friendlier to its citizens, said Joshi in the launch.

How It Works: A One city one pass reality
The beauty of the MC One Pass is the fact that it is a universal or universal nature. This digital pass is applicable at every MC-controlled parking location in Chandigarh unlike before where most of the permits were limited to a single parking lot. You are visiting the Multi-Level Parking in Sector 17, you have a business meeting, or you are visiting the Sukhna Lake and you are going to have a morning walk, you are going to be covered by the same pass.

The 4-Step Digital Journey
In order to make the system inclusive, the MC has done away with the aspect of having to visit any government office. It is completely mobile-based:
- Scan: Find the official QR code in any parking site of MC or on the Web site
- Register: A mobile registration that uses one-time OTP.
- Details: You are requested to enter the vehicle registration number (the system also allows commercial yellow-plate vehicles).
- Pay: Choose the payment period (Monthly, Quarterly, etc.) and make the payment through UPI or credit card.
After the payment is made, the digital pass is saved on the phone of the user and the number of the vehicle is revised in the central database where it is used by the on-site attendants to validate the user.
