The minimalist style and the smooth look that has been a staple of Samsung flagship smartphones over the last ten years is coming to the bridge of your nose. During the Mobile World Congress (Barcelona), Samsung has finally unveiled its most hyped wearable in years; the Galaxy AI Glasses.

Leaving behind the cumbersome “Mixed Reality” headsets that tend to resemble a professional device more than an accessory, the device that Samsung is working on is designed to live in the every-day. It is not just any other screen, but it serves as an idea of the future, when AI does not only react to your voice, but actually shares your perspective.

The Eye-Level Camera: A New Point of View

The most notable aspect that Jay Kim, the Executive Vice President of Samsung and mobile business confirmed is the positioning of an advanced and eye-level camera. Although past smart glasses commonly had cameras as a secondary communication means in image taking, the Galaxy AI Glasses rely on their optics to serve as the main sense giving their device the equivalent of a brain.

The camera is placed in a way that captures just what the wearer is looking at, and is paired with the Gemini AI that Google uses to give a real time contextual awareness. When you are viewing a piece of history in a new foreign city or even a complicated piece of engine machinery in a workshop, the glasses automatically identify the item.

“Agentic” AI: Your Digital Twin

The actual secret sauce of these glasses is what Samsung calls Agentic AI. In contrast to a conventional voice assistant that remains silent until you issue a command, an “AI Agent” works on your behalf as per the visual information.

In a live demonstration, an executive put the glasses on and read a restaurant menu in French on them. The glasses without the need of a voice prompt connected via a paired Galaxy smartphone to translate the text and overlay nutritional information depending on the user health profile as per their Galaxy Ring.

The glasses are your eyes and ears but the smartphone in your pocket gives you the muscle, as Kim explained. Samsung has been able to make the glasses lightweight, ostensibly weighing about 50 grams, by transferring the hefty processing onto the phone, and thus it is no heavier than any other high end eyewear.

The Subtle Design Philosophy

Samsung is evidently following the footsteps of the successful Meta Ray-Bans by focusing on fashion as opposed to technical fluff. The first models approved to be released in 2026 will be based on a display-less experience or a very minimal heads-up display (HUD).

Samsung is working with such fashion giants as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to make sure these are not mere devices of technology fans. They are made to wear in the boardrooms, cafes and in subways without the glasshole stigma of a decade ago.

Privacy and Interaction

  • LED Privacy Indicators: To deal with recording issues, the camera has a bright LED that indicates to people when the camera is recording.
  • Touchpad Gestures: The right temple is a touch-sensitive control that can control up and down volume and also activate AI manually.
  • Now Nudge: This is a new feature which gives audio notifications on a bone-conduction speaker when the artificial intelligence notices an object you may have overlooked (a well-known face in a crowd or an appointment clash).

Breaking the Old Guard of Wearables

When Samsung ventures into this space, they collide directly with Meta who are the incumbent of the smart glasses industry. Samsung, however, has an upper hand because of its interrelated ecosystem.

The glasses will complete the puzzle in case you already have a Galaxy Watch and an S26 Ultra in your possession. They do not just live in a vacuum but they will link to your home appliances, your vehicle and your digital life. Whatever you consider as something you can do in your kitchen when you walk in, open the fridge, and the glasses show you what ingredients are almost running out, all because of the Bespoke AI network.
