Yet another tectonic wave in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) space is here. Tomorrow that is on Friday, February 20th, 2026 Tata Motors will show the covers from all new Tata Punch EV facelift. Ever since it first arrived, the Punch EV has been “the” urban commuter’s darling brat: A compact SUV that not only promises a greener footprint but also delivers what Indian roads ask for—a high-sitting, tough looking stance.
Here on the eve of this launch, “new look” should be the least of our excitement. It’s all about the ways in which Tata is evolving its most affordable electric SUV to keep it looking fresh, and to stay ahead of a rapidly expanding pack of rivals. From rumored “Nexon rivaling” battery packs to a cabin that looks and feels more like a cockpit, here’s everything we know about the 2026 Tata Punch EV facelift.
The Range Game: Can You Build A 500km Punch EV?
And if the design is the “hook,” the battery is its miraculous heart. In 2026, the biggest rumor is a huge increase in range.
The Carryover of Standard & Long Range (LR)
- The current battery packs – 25kWh (Standard) and 35kWh (Long Range) remain the workhorses of the family.
- Standard: ~315 km (MIDC range)
- Longrange: ~ 421 km(MIDC range)
- The Speculated 45kWh “Ultra-Range”
According to reports, Tata could use the 45 kWh LFP battery pack (long range model) of the Nexon EV 45. In the event that they go ahead with this top-end trim, expect the Punch EV to break through the 500 km per charge barrier. Since the Punch is both lighter and smaller than the Nexon, one can still get better efficiency from a similar battery that would make it the most range-effective EV in this price segment.
Interior of the Cabin: Tech-Heavy and Premium
Climbing into the 2026 facelift will feel as if you’ve hopped a generation. Instead, Tata has concentrated on “perceived quality,” swapping out hard plastics for soft-touch materials in vital areas.
- 12.3-inch Hub: The university dorm size 7-handset agreements room iteration of the new 12.3-inch cinematic touchscreen infotainment system is the main upgrade here. It will run on a faster processor, be compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as the Arcade.ev” suite, which lets you stream videos or play games while the car is charging.
- The design of the steering wheel is now updated to a two-spoke version that the brand claims to give better views of the instrument as well as to have good ‘driveability’, and also visible is an illuminated Tata logo on it, first seen in Nexon.
- Ventilated Luxury: In a place like India, ventilated front seats are nothing short of a boon. These will come on the top-end “Empowered” trims with a voice-assisted electric sunroof.
- Frunk & Storage: The Frunk also returns to add some convenience with storage space for charging cables or small groceries.

Pricing and Market Impact
At present, the Punch EV is priced between ₹9.99 lakh to ₹14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). With the new tech and design changes, we anticipate a modest premium of between ₹20,000 to ₹40,000 across the current battery variants. The only catch being, if and when an additional 45kWh version comes out, then we’re talking of a ₹15.5 lakh (ex-showroom) price-point piece.
Even so, the Punch EV facelift will continue to prove a formidable opponent for the Citroen eC3 as well as Maruti Suzuki’s own e-Vitara that has been shown recently.
