Officials confirmed that a terrorist was killed during an encounter with security forces in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
Operation Launched After Intelligence Input
Security sources state that Joint Operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army, based on intelligence input of potential terrorists hidden in the mountainous area of the district. The operation began in the early hours of the morning when security personnel witnessed suspicious movement in the area.
As security forces approached the suspected area, the terrorist opened fire on the forces, which led to an exchange of gunfire for several minutes.
Officials further confirmed that they were able to kill one terrorist during these operations. The identity and group affiliation of the deceased is still under investigation. According to the police, both arms and ammunition were recovered from the scene of the encounter.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation to ensure that there are no remaining terrorists. Security forces have sent in additional units to support their operations.
