One of the biggest launches of 2026 is awaited In Indian automotive space. Come 5th January, tomorrow the Mahindra XUV 7X0 will world premiere and yes, it is the new avatar of the legendary XUV700. Carrying forward the rebranding approach it took with the XUV 3XO, Mahindra is not simply redeploying an older model as a facelift but throwing in more tech that should help consolidate its position in the midsize SUV market.
With pre-bookings announced in mid-December 2025, there is huge enthusiasm among fans. Here is everything we know about the XUV 7XO ahead of its big reveal, from a revolutionary “triple-screen” interior to advanced safety features borrowed from its electric cousins.
The Triple-Screen Interior: A Digital Revolution
If the outside is an evolution, its innards can best be described as a complete revolution -in a good way. The 7XO is also set to become Mahindra’s first ICE vehicle in India to get a triple-screen dashboard setup; the feature was previously reserved for the top-of-the-line XEV electric SUV range.
The cockpit will be equipped with three enormous 12.3-inch high-definition displays:
DIC (Digital I
- Infotainment Centre: With an enhanced AdrenoX+ system for connectivity at your fingertips.
- Passenger Display: A screen for the front co-passenger to watch content without disturbing the driver.
Moving away from the screens, the cabin is given a premium touch thanks to 2-spoke steering wheel and illuminated Mahindra logo on it. The colors themselves have also changed with a more intelligent Brown-Beige combination and soft touch on the dashboard and door trims. “Boss Mode” returns for the chauffeur-driven, letting rear passengers electronically slide the front seat forward to maximize legroom.

Exterior Design: Shorter Name, Crisper Styling
The silhouette is still recognizable but the XUV 7XO gets a much angrier, contemporary face. The new front grille has a stylised vertical slats on either side of the “Twin Peaks” emblem. Notable changes include the headlights; new C-shaped LED headlamps come with a more menacing (looking) sharper 7-shaped DRL that now encompasses its cluster.
At the back, the SUV’s ass gets on with the “connected” trend thanks to a full-width LED light bar uniting the inverted L-shaped tail lamps. These changes, when combined with newly styled 19-inch alloy wheels and more chiselled bumper result in the 7XO looking futuristic thanks to Mahindra’s “Born Electric” design language.
Performance and Powertrain: The Proven Heart
Beneath this high-tech skin, Mahindra is following its “don’t fix what ain’t broke” strategy. The mStallion and mHawk engines that have won the hearts of fans will also drive the XUV 7XO.
A six-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission will be offered on both engines. The off-roaders and the need of extra grip in monsoons, will be seeing AWDs for their preferred top end diesel trims.
Safety First: 540° Vision & Level 2 ADAS
Mahindra has always been at the forefront of safety, and the XUV 7XO is no exception. The current system, which is a 360-degree camera setup, has been replaced with dual-camera technology creating a new way to look at the land both below and surrounding the vehicle—a value proposition from city-parking to light off-roading.
There should also be a software update for the Level 2 ADAS suite, which will contribute improved interventions for Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Autonomous Emergency Braking. Internationally, this model packs in 7 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes and the electronic parking brake with auto-hold function to ensure that it is one of the safest on Indian roads.
