Tighten the Noose: Travel Restrictions and Lookout Notices

On 21 December 2025, a Dhaka court issued an official travel ban on Faisal Karim Masud. The ban is enforced in all land, river and sea ports while his passport information (Passport No: BN0411648) has already been disseminated from the immigration desks of Bangladesh.

Lookout Notice: All police stations have been put on alert across the country.

Reports Times Intelligence: Initial reports suggested that Faisal may have crossed over into India through Mymensingh, but Additional Inspector General of Police on Wednesday said there was no “specific evidence” that the suspect has fled and thar surveillance system in Bangladesh is at its tightest ever within three days.

Detentions: A total of nine have been arrested so far, including Faisal’s wife and her brother who all ganged up to help him flee the city as well as offer necessary shelter.

Mourning and anger in a devastated country

The assassination of Sharif Osman Hadi has changed the political dynamic. The funeral prayer of Motiur was held amidst tight security at Manik Mia Avenue in presence of thousands of people and he was buried next to the grave of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

The United Nations and several human rights organizations have demanded a “swift and impartial” investigation to prevent the democratic transition from being derailed by what the government has described as “fringe elements” trying to promote chaos.
